Thanks to Stanton for all of your work in amassing this trove of information and putting it on a website for the rest of us!

I’m Ben McCandless, mechanical engineer by trade, and when I’ve got some free time, I’m a mechanical engineer and irrepressible tinkerer too. I also enjoy mapping caves, volunteer search and rescue, SCUBA diving, and more things of that nature.

My branch of the family settled in Butler, PA in the 1790s and some distant cousins still own the family farm there. I’m not going to say I’m the genealogist of the family, but I’m probably the most interested in it of all my (near) relatives.

I’d found a website Stanton had put together many years ago with his tartan design, and actually had a bunch of fabric made for kilts for my family and I, so if anyone wants to talk about fabric and kiltmaking, I’d love to hear it.

        Best,

        Ben

Welcome, and thanks for the kind words. 🙂

Would be great to see some kilt pics! I’m glad someone besides me got McC kilts made. I’m in process of getting another, in a muted palette of the green version, but it’s going to take months.
